WTF Moment of the Day/Bad Parent of the Day

A woman in Georgia, forced her ten year old step-son to have sex with her as his father watched.

What The Fuck?!

Just when you thought you had heard it all, some shit like this pops up in the news. And just imagine what has happened to him that we don’t know about.

I hate parents like this. I think these types of mothafuckas need to be executed! Yes, EXECUTED!

And peep this, this broad worked for a school! So how many other kids have been endangered by her?!

It’s not just her. His father actively participated in the abuse as well. This young man is going to need counseling for the rest of his life. Poor baby.

Anitta Roberts and Joseph Terrell you are the Bad Parents of the Day. Be lucky. Be so very lucky that I’ve never met either one of you before or that young man because I’d do some serious damage to both of you!

P.S. Yall do remember that Georgia is on our Top 5 Dumbass States List right? Um, yeah. For good reason.

Political Breakdown For The Week

A lot has happened in the political front as of late. I mean, this week has been chalk full of stuff. Let me break this down for you ***News Briefs*** style.

-President Obama gave a moving, dedicated, impassioned and campaign fueled State of the Union address….Which sounded like all the same bullshit he said four years ago. Yippee!

-Gov. Jan Brewer, the Wicket Witch of the West out of Arizona then treated Obama like he was her little puppy dog and he stood there with his ‘yessa ma’am’ face on before walking away. Folks keep putting a spin on it by saying he walked away in a ‘Bitch please’ demeanor. I saw no such thing. He shoulda mushed her ass but that’s just me.

- New Jersey’s governor has stated that Civil Rights for Black people should’ve been put up for a vote. He made these comments in an effort to defend his vetoing of gay marriage legislation…Um, okay.

-And last night the Republicans debated again and said the same old garbage they’ve been saying which really makes no sense because they sound like complete and utter idiots.

This entire system aint shit!

Let’s Do Some Racial Profiling…

Based on the appearance of these two men, what do you think they’ve done?

I’m just sayin…We have it done to us all the time. Let’s flip the script a bit….Seriously, tell me what you think these two men could have possibly done or been accused of?

Well, let me answer it for you. They’re on trial for bombing a Black city official in Arizona. They are also admitted white supremacists.

Are any of you surprised by this revelation?

See, sometimes racial profiling does work.

French Elle Believes Black People Weren’t Stylish Until The Obamas

The French consistently have negative opinions of us. I mean, gol-ly! Now, it’s not too different from the opinions of other European/European influenced nations but they just love to print all of they bullshit!

The latest claim by a French publication regarding Black folks is that we weren’t stylish until the Obamas came around.

Oh really now?

Because EVERYTHING we do as Black people is copied by white folks, are do yall just forget about that? I mean, particularly when it comes to hip-hop culture, which includes clothing and style. But, as usual, this slips the mind of white folks.

To my white readers, please explain this phenomenon to me. How do yall just ‘forget’ stuff when it’s convenient? I mean, that’s quite a gift.

Black History Month….Sigh

It’s that time  of year again. When Yahoo! and Google change their logos to show ‘appreciation.’ When there are more R&B based singing McDonald’s commercials on than usual and the NAACP tries to show its relevance.

Yes, Black History Month.

Now, for the past couple of years during Black History Month, I spend every day, doing a ‘tribute’ of sorts by featuring a historical and significant, not well known figure in our history but I don’t know if that’s something I want to continue because, why? So those twenty-eight, well, twenty-nine days this year can mean something? So we can feel appreciated by white folks? Or so that we can appreciate ourselves? Well, our history needs to mean something ALL THE TIME. White folks are NEVER going to appreciate us (or accept us, we seriously need to get that notion out of our heads). And we should be appreciation ourselves and our contributions to this world for more than just February.

Every year, we get mad if some mainstream political figure doesn’t give us props during the month, and these folks are typically Republicans, but we don’t give ourselves props most of the time. We want to see some bullshit special on B.E.T or TV One and we feel good about ourselves yet we continue doing self destructive things for the rest of the year. So, what is the point of continuing Black History Month?

I know, already you can’t believe I of all people am saying this but I’m being serious. If it doesn’t change our behaviors or motivate us, what is the point? Yes, when Carter G. Woodson came up with the concept of Black History Week, which later became month, it was needed. Racism was so blatant and we as a people were not remotely respected and told we were nothing, we needed to know who we were. We still need this because most of us don’t know but when the concept came about, we took the time to learn. We took the time to teach each other just how valuable we were but now, we don’t care.

If a special or movie on television can placate you for the rest of the year, you don’t care! Plenty of folks are still going to spend the month watching these ratchet shows that depict us in a negative light. We’re still going to be doing each other harm and tearing each other down, so why continue on with a month, that in the grand scheme of things, appears to be meaningless because it’s used as nothing more than a marketing tool at this point?

Because as a people, we have become far too complacent in this world that still shows us how much they hate us on a daily basis. They may not call you a nigger to your face but they do it when they’re screening your job, loan, housing applications. Trust. I, in part, blame the Obama factor on this current state. Because Obama has done to our community what integration did. Made us stop caring. I mean, how many manipulated images have you seen comparing Martin Luther King to Barack Obama? How many times have you heard him being embodied as the fulfillment of ‘The Dream’? And when do we get upset? When he gets attacked or some of us, such as myself, don’t fall in line. Because we figure that as long as he’s there, in that office which doesn’t change regardless of who’s in it, then we’re where we need to be. Forget our unemployment rates. Forget our poverty rates. Forget that fact that many of us are losing our mortgages. Forget that our community is regressing on a daily basis. Barack Obama is in office.

Too many of us feel that we’ve arrived. And we feel that way based on bullshit symbolism that means nothing when it comes down to us. Because what point does it make to have a Black president if the state of Black people worsens? What point is it for us to have integration in schools if we stop valuing education and getting properly educated?

What difference does a damn month make if we’re not bettering ourselves or each other? To teach white people? Because they could give a damn. White people are always going to be white people. You have a few stragglers that may cross the line but overall, they’re going to be who they are. Black History Month should be about us and if we no longer give a damn about us, as we keep showing, then let’s stop pretending.

Regina King-Hollywood’s Most Known, Best Kept Secret

We all know the plight of Black actresses in Hollywood. Well, our community knows at least. White folks pretend to be oblivious to it. And I fully believe it’s just an act because white people do far too much to us intentionally for the ‘accidents’ to just slip by. Anyways, we often talk abut the superior acting of Angela Bassett. Let’s be honest, there is no one in the game better. I refer to Meryl Streep as the white version of her.

Don’t get me wrong, Meryl Streep can act. She’s one of the few people within the industry who’s multiple Academy Award nominations are actually deserved. But Angela Bassett stands toe-to-toe and doesn’t get nearly the same amount of work Meryl does. Nor does she see as many scripts, which relegates her to movies such as Jumping The Broom. But, this isn’t about Angela, as you know by the title.

This is about Regina King. If Angela Bassett is the best, Regina King is a close damn second. Regina King is perhaps the most versatile actress this generation has ever seen. I make that bold statement without a moment’s hesitation. And it’s not just because she’s a sista or that I like her work. But it’s the fact that if you’ve ever watched Regina King you see her ability to do anything on screen.

Most of us don’t remember being three or four. For those that do, good for you. I remember some things but not everything. But I remember watching 227. I remember thinking that Brenda was the coolest person ever. Well, her and Sandra, let’s be real. But as I grew up, I remember seeing her in many things and always being taken back to her playing Brenda on that show. As a kid, every time I saw her in something I’d be like, that’s Brenda from 227! It’s amazing the impression someone leaves on you as a kid and what you related them to.

I also remember seeing an interview with her when she mentioned Bill Cosby asking her not to keep doing ‘stereotypical’ roles and her reply was that when Hollywood offered her something different, she’d take it. Speaking on Cosby’s even apparent refusal to acknowledge just how hard it is for Black folks within an industry were we are relegated to such roles. But I do know what he was talking about. Because when you think of those stereotypical roles your mind goes to her role in Boyz N The Hood and Poetic Justice.

But to me her role in those films showed so much. Because she went from good girl Brenda to the hoodrat instantaneously. To be able to flip the script so completely shows those skills that she has. And yes, as an actress, one is supposed to be able to do that but how many of these mainstream, popular-let’s just say it, white actresses can do the same? I’ve seen Regina play second fiddle to so many of these wack broads that I have to shake my head. Yes, I’m thinking of those movies she did with Hillary Duff and Reese Witherspoon.

Regina, for many mainstream roles has been made to play the girlfriend, sidekick etc. when we know she should be opening films. That’s the kind of ability she has in her skills. As I’m trying to point out, the only one who can compare in her on screen skills is Angela Bassett. Now, yes, I know there are so many good, uber talented Black actresses out there who deserve their shine. But I’m focusing on King because her career has spanned over twenty-five years and she is consistently giving her all to everything she does, while not losing her integrity. She doesn’t just pick the slave parts and be done with it. She’s played every type of Black woman in our community so that even though she is typecast, she clearly does not deserve to be.

Do you know that Regina King has NEVER been nominated for any of these mainstream awards? I saw this and had to literally give that taken aback/ stank face at the realization. Regina King who should have at least an Oscar or nomination for her role in Ray alone, has never even been nominated for a Golden Globe or an Emmy. I’m sorry, have you seen Southland? Seriously, have you?  She plays arguably the most dynamic female character on television and cannot get any recognition?

I know Hollywood is racist, American society is racist. C’mon, there are many things that don’t surprise me and racist white fokls is one of them. But to just overlook the talent that is there makes me shake my head and roll my eyes. Because there are so few people I can watch on screen and not remember who I’m watching. Denzel is one, Angela is another and then there’s Regina King, heir to the Best Black Actress throne if you ask me.

It’s like, we jump when we hear movies like Red Tails threatens the future of Black Hollywood (a lie by the way) but when our Black actresses that have stood the test of time, get done dirty, we’re silent. What type of sense does that make? If we’re outraged by the lack of positive roles that we see Black folks in, then why aren’t we watching them when they are on unless someone pushes our buttons to play at our emotion like George Lucas did? Because Regina King is on Southland playing a positive Black role on television and how many of us are watching? Why are we not outraged by the lack of love she has received from the industry over the years? Yes, it’s wonderful that she’s working but she should be seeing every script first. Every script. I don’t care if the role calls for a trailer park bound redneck, Regina King can play that damn role!

Start giving her the credit she deserves!

P.S. To my people, I’m just saying, you can catch Southland on TNT Tuesday nights. I don’t know if Basketball Wives or Real Housewives of Atlanta or something conflicts but you can Tivo or DVR that for a night. Let’s be real, you’re not going to be missing too much. And Regina King’s role is much more positive than any of that filth anyways…Plus, she voices both Huey and Riley Freeman on The Boondocks. How cool is that is shit?

Whitney Says She Is NOT Broke!

And I believe her, and I don’t believe most folks.

Reports surfaced online recently from an anonymous source claiming that the G.O.A.T. (in singing) had to borrow money from friends and creditors, in as little amounts as $100.

***Sidebar***Was the anonymous source Bobby Brown? I’m just sayin, it’s a fair question.***

I mean, it takes A LOT to run through $100 million in a little over ten years. I’m just sayin. You realize that she is one of the biggest selling female artists of ALL TIME don’t you? I don’t care what type of drugs she was doing. And yes, she was doin a lot of that nostril ticklish©.

But Whitney just wrapped a remake of Sparkle, I’m still mad they did one, and aint no telling how much she got paid.

Whitney may not be where she was fifteen years ago but Whitney fa damn sho aint on that Lindsay Lohan!

Marine Convicted For Murdering Iraqi Civilians, Gets Demoted

Oh, the good ol’ Military Industrial Complex. You stay protecting your own and telling the world exactly what the lives of people of color mean.

I mean, this man and his squad killed dozens of people, purposefully, not by accident and received nothing more than a demotion? Is this not problematic to anybody else?

In all of the eight Marines charged in the 2005 executions, one was acquitted, the other six had their cases dropped, and this one, Staff Sgt. Frank Wuterich, plead guilty and what? Nothing!

How does this work? Why does it work? Why are we not outraged by this at all? Why is this no good, murdering mothafucka exempt from punishment?

This tells me that the lives of Iraqis mean nothing to the American people. As, if we didn’t know that already. Thousands of Iraqis have been murdered, tortured and raped in the name of ‘Freedom.’

Fuck the bullshit!

P.S. Okay seriously, this dude didn’t even lose his job! Are you serious?!

P.P.S. My brother is a Marine. This is the type of shit he has to look forward to. Losing his humanity and having that behavior excused. Aint shit right about that!
