Taraji, You’re On My List!
So, Taraji P. Henson is an actress I’ve enjoyed watching on screen as of late. And I mean despite her role in Baby Boy. But I’ve seen her get more recognition for her roles and she’s quite talented but her fuckin with PETA makes me have to give her the stale face and side eye, with a roll to the right. Yes, I’m rollin them to the right on this one.
It’s not so much that it’s PETA. Yeah, I think them folks are crazy as hell and I have issue with any group, organization or person who values the life of animals over human beings or thinks they’re equal. (White people, I mean yall. I remember yall treatin them damn pets better than yall treated Black folks during Katrina!)
But my issue with Taraji and her joining the ranks of PETA is her following comment:
“I don’t think a living being should suffer for the sake of fashion, period,” Henson proclaims. “End of story.” “When I realized what went into—not just, we’re not just even talking about a full-length fur coat, I’m talking about just … fur on your gloves or on your jacket or—what goes into making that little piece of fur ripped my heart out. And as humans, we have control. What if someone said, ‘Black skin is the new fur’?“
Of all the analogies you could have come up with, this is what you choose to say as the spokeswoman? Did this broad just compare her Black skin to some animal fur? As much as white folks animalize us for their own sadistic pleasure, why would you EVER compare our beautiful, strong, industrial, durable, protected, coveted Black skin to some damn animal fur?
Yeah, she made the list. And by list I mean folks I will drop in a fraction of a second if they do anything else that is questionable to me.
Why in the hell do Black celebrities keep selling out?
