Well, shit, I’m fat as hell and I know it. But see, I’m workin on it, tryin to get healthy with it. I’m just saying, maybe folks are saying they don’t know they’re fat but they know. Cuz you know.

When you get that extra large fry. When it’s uncomfortable for you to sit in coach on an airplane. When folks look at you sideways for goin thru the buffet line more than once, you know.

Besides, you’re the one carrying the weight around, so you feel it. If you want people to look at you different so you don’t have to lie, change yourself. I decided that I want to get healthy with it, I’m not trying to die young so I started eating right and exercising. That’s the only way it’ll work. All these lose it quick schemes aren’t gonna do it for you.

Shit, I’ve always known my ass was fat. I didn’t need my father’s constant reminders about diabetes running in our family. (Childhood trauma.)

But on the real, things aren’t gonna change for you until you change them. Leave the cookie to the side and pick up an apple. It’s a tedious process but it’s worth it, at least if you want to live a healthy life. If you’re happy being fat, more power to you!

A man posted this as his status message on Facebook yesterday.

“Women in relationships that take advice from single women will ultimately end up single as well…”(Mike Turner ) LOL HAHA”

He then followed up his comment with this:

“LOL i kno right. lol single bitter bitches lol yea i said it. any girl that see’s this and gets mad.. ummm well ur a bitch”

So, let’s assess this for a minute. Let’s ignore the fact that these comments are bitter in themselves. Just by reading them, it seems like he’s having problems with his lady friend and is blaming it on her single friend(s).

Now is his statement true? It could be but it more than likely isn’t. Let me explain.

Because regardless of sex, people talk to their friends, single or not, when they’re in relationships. Men ALWAYS listen to their boys when they’re in relationships. That’s why they do half of the dumb shit they do. Women listen to their girls as well, which can also lead to doing dumb shit.

The fact of the matter is that it’s not who the advice comes from it’s what the advice is. Some people just give bad advice. It doesn’t matter if someone is in a relationship or not. Since the advice is coming from someone single, does that mean it’s bad or that they’re bitter? Not necessarily.

If a new friend tells me that my man is cheating, I’m gonna have to seek out some evidence to corroborate her story. If one of my girls from way back tells me that he’s cheating, I’m going to believe her regardless if she’s single or not because we go way back. We have history and since we have that history, I know she’s a real friend. We done already been through it all together so I’m going to bring that to my man because I know she won’t steer me wrong. And I mean some real, validated, through the gutter and back friendships. Not this new scandalous shit that’s going on between women now.

The problem with this man’s comments and with men who agree with him is that by making such a blatant and bold statement like that, you open yourself up for ridicule and you try to reflect that ridicule by calling women who don’t like it, a “bitch.”

So what about men who don’t like it? What are they? Are they bitches because they disagree with you? Not only that, but making such a statement does not speak that you have security within your relationship. It instead leads an objective reader, such as myself, to believe that the reason you feel this way is because you got caught doing some foul shit and want to cover it up.

If my single friends are in the club and they see my man rubbed up on some random ass broad, best believe I want to know and am going to find out about it.

But it’s men who make statements like this who are typically trying to hide something. Because men who are on their actright aren’t worried about their woman’s friends or the advice they give to them because they have nothing to be worried about because they know their woman is not going to take bad advice from her friends, whether they be single or not. Same for men with women.

Now, yes, there are bitter single women/men out there who aim to sabotage your relationship because they’re not in one. But if you’re the type of wo/man who has that kind of friend, or listens to that kind of friend, that’s on you. You know what type of broad that is because you watch her/his actions. If you’re not being more discerning with who you let into your life, then you have a whole different problem.

But just like there are bitter single women, there are bitter women in relationships too. Women who are mad because their man cheats, beats them or treats them like shit, will condone your man doing the same to you because misery loves company.

The pendulum swings both ways.

There are supposed to be two people in a relationship. Don’t blame the outside party because you’re slipping or your partner is slipping. You need to look internally. Does that mean that an outside party won’t cause strife to your relationship? No because some people are just messy and vindictive like that. But if the two of yall are meant to be together, are honest with each other and communicate, then you shouldn’t be having these problems in the first place.

Once again, it’s not who the advice is from but what the advice is…Remember that. And remember that folks who have been in your corner all along are going to continue being in your corner. Your real, true, ride or die friends want to see you happy. And they will do anything they can to ensure that happiness, including blast on your partner if they on some scandalous shit!

But be sure the folks you’re claiming to be your friends are indeed that true, ride or die type. But that’s a whole different topic…
